Stormwatch #2

“The Dark Side-Part 2” (No Spoilers) Now I can tell Paul Cornell’s starting to have fun with this title. The opening page of this book alone is the most epic tongue-in-cheek moment I’ve ever seen! I also like the dysfunction between the team members. I know Cornell mentioned in interviews that we’ll be seeing the team falling apart. When you see how they treat each other it’s a wonder they ever came together in the first place.
Cornell also does good to answer some of the fanboy rants about the encounter with Martian Manhunter and Midnighter last issue. The great thing is, I think Cornell anticipated the reaction and quickly answers the issue that angered so many fans last issue.

Planetary among 100 titles offered by Amazon Kindle Fire

Everyone’s favorite Wildstorm archeologists are getting the digital treatment once again. Except this time it’s part of Amazon’s new Kindle Fire. It’s no surprise to us here at Wildstorm Addiction that Planetary is the first Wildstorm title to be chosen. It is definitely one of Wildstorm’s finest. We can assume that Point Blank/Sleeper will probably follow with Wildcats Vol. 2 or Wildcats: Version 3.0 not far behind.

Voodoo #1

“Keeping Secrets” (No Spoilers) The final round of the New 52 is here and with it comes another addition from the Wildstorm Universe. Voodoo centers on a character that became well-known as a member of the Wildcats during the Wildstorm years. But now Voodoo’s introduction into the DCU comes solo and leaves us wondering where her allegiances really lie.

As a member of the Wildcats, Voodoo was always a favorite character of mine. I loved her design and how her later incarnations became less and less superhero and more real world like Wildstorm was known for. This issue alone pays homage to both incarnations of Voodoo. We get to see a variation of her original costume as she dances on stage in this issue which was a nice touch. The character here is full of mystery and her true purpose isn’t clearly defined yet. But it’s this mystery that Ron Marz has presented to us that I hope will have new readers hungry to learn more.

Grifter #1

Another Wildstorm character makes his debut in the DCU and this time it’s my main man, Grifter! It’s been 14 years since Grifter last had a solo title so for this fan this has been a long time coming.

The first thing to point out here that I think will grab people’s attention is that this Grifter title lends itself more to the feel of titles like Wildcats Vol. 2 and Wildcats: Version 3.0. Those two titles came out during a time when Wildstorm was going for a more real world feel than a superhero feel. Those incarnations of the Wildcats books were also the most well-received amongst comic fans. I can safely say that fans of those two Wildcats titles will really dig this book.
